How to Reverse or Slow Down Aging

“Life is not merely to be alive, but to be well”
Marcus Valerius Martial

When researching the average age we live today, it comes with very mixed information. Are we living longer? While it's true more people live into their 80's and 90's, it is also true that we are dying of "old people diseases" at a substantially younger age than we used to. It's no longer unusual to hear of someone dying of cancer or heart disease in their 40's and 50's and even in their 30's. Cancer, of course spans all age groups.

While we may have extended the life expectancy, the quality of life into those years is terrible! Long term care homes are bursting and the baby boomers are just beginning to enter them!

When I think of living, I think of quality of life. I think of being able to play around the house with my grandkids hanging all over me, on my shoulders, or wrestling with me, without reservation. Living is feeling healthy and not burdened by feeling tired, being in pain, or having to use caution with activities for fear of aggravating a health condition. With that definition, what is our average life span?

What if you learned that there were steps you could take on your own that might help you to age gracefully? What if you discovered that there were products that could help you recover from your chronic problems, or - better yet - prevent it altogether? You would probably go to great lengths to seek out these wonder treatments, wouldn't you? No sum of money, no amount of trouble would be too much, if only you could find ways to slow down aging. Yet there is no need to search out exotic locations for mysterious herbs, nor do you need to pay exorbitant prices for wonder drugs from the pharmacist. It may come as a surprise, but the best of all are as near as your local grocery store, health food store, farmer's market and (if you have one) your own fruit and vegetable garden.

Big question is:
Is it possible to reverse aging process
or slow down? I believe it is.

Everything we eat, say, think, do, see, feel, dream, and imagine affects our overall state of health. It would seem impossible to control all these different influences at once, but by following specific knowledge and awareness about our body, we can correct the vast majority of imbalances now and prevent those that might lie in the future.

A teacher of mine once told me: “It is not the number of years you have lived that makes you grow old. You become old when you stop progressing.” As with anything in life, it is perspective that matters most. When we give up on life or on ourselves, we stagnate and our body begins to age. In Chinese medicine and in other holistic systems of health, stagnation leads to disease. Stagnation is when something in the body stops moving. This could be an emotion, a thought, body fluids or blood.

But how do we reach the quality? Though it doesn’t happen overnight, the concept is easier than you think. Aging gracefully means having the health to enjoy the things in life, your entire life. It's about a quality of life. If your health is less than acceptable and you want to age more gracefully, seek the services of a qualified natural health practitioner skilled in helping you to overcome your health issues.

Remember, this body of yours is the only one you'll get. If you want it to last, you've got to maintain it and fix its problems.
It will serve you well if you do.

I know many people who conquered their diseases with whole food diet, pure water, all natural food supplements, optimistic attitude and exercise. They experienced not only healing and recovery, but actual rejuvenation. Their skin smoothed out, hair turned back to its natural auburn, fingernails and toenails quit splitting, lost their ridges and turned pink and strong, arthritis deposits disappeared, bursitis and joint problems faded away, energy returned abundantly and concentration and memory returned to normal. The right food and no drugs mark the bottom line in recovery. And they are surely, certainly within our grasp.

If we take care of ourselves little by little, every day - no matter what our age - we can live fuller and more joyful lives. I strive to give people the tools to make small but significant changes in their lives, changes that eventually add up to big improvements. Unfortunately, many of us only learn through pain. It takes something really bad to happen to our health before we make positive changes. We are, after all, creatures of habit and change is difficult. It takes attention, work and precious time.
